mrstater: (Remus/Tonks Prelude to a Kiss)
Title: Between The Lines Part II/II
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] gilpin25 and [livejournal.com profile] mrstater
Rating & Warnings: T for mild innuendo and bad goat jokes
Word Count: 11,844
Summary: Away on a solitary mission for the Order, Remus decides to send someone a ‘Wish you were here’ card. The consequences of which prove a lot more than both he and the recipient bargained for… Set during OotP.
Author’s Note: Back in May 2008 (cue embarrassed coughing from us both), we wrote the first half of this. As we definitely had to refresh our memories as to whereabouts and what our busy letter writing duo were up to in order to complete this second half of the story, we’d recommend a quick run-through of it, if you can spare the time, and it can be found here. Otherwise, Remus, away on a secret Order mission, sent Tonks a postcard, which led to friendship, flirting, awful jokes and, eventually, tentative romance by owl post. Misunderstandings and ink blots were plentiful, but Part I ended with Remus plucking up courage to invite her to come and spend an evening with him at the house where he’s lodging for the local ‘Up the Duff’ night, which is a celebration of food for anyone already thinking the rating on this should be higher. The story resumes with Tonks having just returned home after that evening, and as before, not only is it a fic by letter, but there’s plenty of visual stimuli and the odd surprise along the way.

Title: In Sickness
Author: [livejournal.com profile] mrstater
Rating & Warnings: PG-13 for innuendo
Format & Word Count: one-shot, 7880 words
Summary: Tenth in the Transfigured Hearts series: Remus at last gives in to Tonks' request to help him after the full moon, but when she sees him at his lowest, it's more than Remus bargained for. Will he push her away for the last time, or does their relationship still have a chance?
Author's Notes: Yet another revision, which has been a very long time in coming! This story follows Recurring Problem and was one of the main ones that always bugged me a bit, probably because I wrote the whole series out of order; Remus' behavior always seemed to come rather out of the blue in this one, so I wrote an opening scene to hopefully give it some context. (The original is here for any parties interested in comparing versions.) Many thanks to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] godricgal for enthusiastically betaing and helping me sort out the sticky issue of making a narrative shift from Tonks to Dora. (And encouraging me to get this project finished, lol.)

Title: Recurring Problem
Author: [livejournal.com profile] mrstater
Rating & Warnings: R for language and adult themes (and eating habits that might disgust pregnant women ;))
Format & Word Count: Four chapters, totaling 27,570 words
Summary: Ninth in the Transfigured Hearts series: When prejudice, a communication breakdown, a separation, and the Daily Prophet frazzle nerves and make tempers flare, Remus and Tonks admit the B-word into their relationship vocabulary: break-up. Sirius makes it his personal Order mission to convince them to take it back...

Title: Crying Over Spilt Tea

Rating
: PG
Word Count
:  5996 words
Summary
: Sixth in the Transfigured Hearts series:  Snape witnesses the attraction between Remus and Tonks, and when she is the object of the Potions master's scorn, the old hostilities between the Marauders and Snivellus rear their ugly heads. The feisty Auror is hardly the average damsel in distress, and more than capable of standing up for herself, but Remus can't sit back and say nothing. Will he intervene for her like a level-headed Order member, or will he join Sirius in reverting to the roles of Moony and Padfoot?
Author's Notes
: Another revision which is just about unrecognizable from the original, which can be found here. Not only have I beefed up the content, but I've also pulled it forward in the series because I've always been shaky about the order of the three following Open Door and felt they weren't ready yet for another quarrel. Also, I drew in a plot-line from a Sirius-POV piece I wrote for the January, 2007 ficathon at [profile] rt_challengeThe Devil On Your Shoulder.  As always, many thanks to [personal profile] godricgal, AKA Tater's Best Beta Reader.

Author: MrsTater
Rating: PG-13 for innuendo
Word Count: 11,904 words
Summary: Fifth in the Transfigured Hearts series: The night before the full moon, Remus feels ill and out of sorts, and would prefer to shut himself up in Grimmauld Place. When Tonks opens her door to him, it's an invitation Remus can't bring himself to refuse -- but he goes to her flat with his own walls erected around him. Will his resistance to her creative attempts to draw him out reveal the inner wolf to her? Will she at last shut the door on their relationship?

Title: Taking Umbrage
Author: [livejournal.com profile] mrstater
Rating: PG
Word Count: 13,900
Summary: Third in the Transfigured Hearts series: Time is a precious commodity for members of the Order of the Phoenix, especially where romance is concerned. Why, then, would Remus want to waste one of those rare opportunities to be with Tonks talking about the Ministry's unjust new Educational Decree that places an antagonist in his old Defence Against the Dark Arts position? But Tonks doesn't see it that way, and a second date seems far more likely to become a first fight.

Title: Good A-brewing
Author: [livejournal.com profile] mrstater
Rating: PG
Pairing/Featured Characters: Remus Lupin/Nymphadora Tonks; Sirius Black, Severus Snape
Summary: The relentless cycle of the moon and a bad batch of Wolfsbane Potion are enough to put Remus in a foul mood. His approaching thirty-seventh birthday, on top of it all, makes him positively broody -- so much so that his failure to join Sirius in another verbal duel with Snape turns into an even uglier conflict between best mates. Can Tonks intervene without making Remus feel even more deficient? Will his request for her to let his birthday pass quietly, without fuss, backfire and muck up that relationship, as well? More importantly what, exactly, does Remus over hear Tonks whispering about with Snape?

Here's my entry for the third prompt at [livejournal.com profile] rt_challenge. This is a big departure for me, but it was a lot of fun to write. I can see why [livejournal.com profile] gilpin25 got such a kick out of writing her piece for the [livejournal.com profile] metamorfic_moon Fic Advent.

Author's Notes: I'll be away when the first person, present tense prompt comes up, but this prompt wanted to be written in that tense. I've written first person before, but this is my first person to try it in HP fic. Concrit is mucho appreciated. Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] godricgal, for the beta work!

Thanks to everyone who offered concrit - I made some tweaks to give Tonks a stronger presence, and I think it helped a lot!
